Printing the Fabric

Afp print on a broad range of knitted and woven fabrics made of merino wool, merino wool blends, linen, linen blends, cotton, cotton blends such as cotton/ Lycra and many more.

Clients can contact our General Manager, Paul Onion, at afp if they would like to discuss the most suitable fabric for a project. We have a list of textile suppliers we can put them in contact with to source fabric.

Afp only print continuous fabric on the roll. This means that we are only able to print your design on fabric that comes on a roll. The minimum order quantity is 20 metres. Our speciality is known as flat-bed screen printing. We operate the only large Buser flatbed screen printer in Australasia.

We are able to print a single roll as short as 20 metres up to large 300 – 400 metre length rolls. The printing quantity can also be made up of different base fabrics sewn together for the printing process and taken apart after the process is completed. This can only be done if the print colours are the same on all the different base fabrics.

For large print jobs we will sew a client’s 10 x 40 metre rolls together to form a large roll for the printing process. During inspection the large roll will be repacked down into the original 40 metre length rolls.

The printing is done on a Swiss made 40 metre length Buser flatbed printing system. We dry and finish the fabric after printing in a variable temperature continuous gas oven.
